corona virus |
the corona virus is a disease that primarily relates to the flu So far, the new corona virus has led to more than 22000 illnesses and more than 9300 deaths worldwide. But that's nothing compared with the flu also called influenza. In the U.S. alone, the flu has caused an estimated 36 million illnesses 370000 hospitalizations and 22000 deaths this season, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention but very little is known about corona virus. the most common symptoms of corona virus is coughing profusely, fevers, tiredness/sleepiness, severe difficulty breathing. the corona virus is primarily spread through sneezes, saliva or coughing.
A pandemic is a disease epidemic that has spread globally, meaning it is on every continent infecting thousands. In order to find a vaccine for a tumultuous virus we must analyze and understand the virus. Therefore you must breach into the field of anatomy, which is the field of science that focuses on the structures within an organism. As in this case the anatomy of COVID-19 is very similar to prior viruses that affect the respiratory system. COVID-19 is known as an RNA virus which means it is capable of maintaining its own genetic code and latching it onto other cells, typically the host’s cells. When it passes it’s genetic code to healthy cells in the respiratory system, the virus then proceeds to reproduce itself to spread throughout the lungs and trachea. At first viruses were named after locations or hearths that viruses originated from, however this form of naming is no longer in use as it can lead to xenophobic tendencies. Viruses are now classified by four steps. The first step is the nature of the nucleic acid, second is the symmetry of the protein shell, third is whether or not the virus contains a lipid membrane, and the last is the dimension of the virion and capsid. COVID-19 is addressed as such, because the CO stands for corona, VI for virus and D for disease. Ultimately the 19 stands for the year it was discovered in Wuhan, China.
